Consultation to inform development of the WA Mental Health Workforce Action Plan is now open!
Phase 1 consultations are now underway to inform the development of the WA Mental Health Workforce Action Plan (MH Action Plan). Your voice is important to us and as one of our stakeholders your input is critical to ensure the MH Action Plan addresses the current challenges and future opportunities to deliver high quality health care.
The MH Action Plan aims to set out actions to grow, support and develop an interprofessional mental health workforce that appropriately supports the future expansion of mental health services across the system. It intends to build on information about the current WA mental health workforce and considers the challenges and opportunities currently faced by staff.

Why we are consulting
The intent of this consultation survey is to ensure the perspective of individuals, groups and organisations who support and interact with WA mental health services is captured in the development of the MH Action Plan. This includes, but is not limited to, health professionals working within mental health services, education providers and those involved in workforce training, unions and professional representative groups, consumers of mental health services, mental health advocates, and carer, families and loved ones of those who access mental health services.
Specifically, we seek your perspective and understanding of opportunities to:
- Enable a sustainable workforce
- Grow workforce supply
- Support staff wellbeing and retention
- Support workforce training and capability
Completing the survey
Feedback from individuals, groups and organisations is welcome and encouraged, and all responses are confidential.
The survey consists of 12 questions. There is an opportunity to provide written feedback to support your response or provide additional comments to inform development of the MH Action Plan is subject to word limits.
The survey may be completed over more than one session. Please retain your login details if you wish to complete the survey at a later time.
The survey will close at 11.59pm on Friday 25 March 2022.
What happens next
Your response will feed into the Phase 1 consultation process and be considered as part of the analysis of stakeholder contributions.
