Introduction

The discussion paper outlines a number of options and recommendations for managing public health risks associated with lodging houses in WA.

These options include:

Option A – Repeal without replacement and use the general public health duty provided by the Public Health Act 2016 to manage risks. The DOH would provide guidelines for the management of lodging houses.

Option B – Repeal and relace with model local laws provided by the DOH

Option C - Continue to regulate lodging houses under the Public Health Act 2016 using new housing regulations . In this option the DOH would progress the development of new regulations for the management of public health risks associated with lodging houses.
