A national framework for newborn bloodspot screening in Australia
Overview
The survey is being conducted by the Newborn Bloodspot Screening Working Group. This group includes representatives and experts from the fields of nursing, bioethics, consumer advocacy, newborn screening, paediatrics, pathology, policy development and state, territory and Commonwealth governments. The Working Group has been tasked with the development of a national policy framework for newborn bloodspot screening in Australia. A national policy framework is being developed to support the continued success of the newbonr screening programs, and enable them to develop into the future.
Aim
The aim of the survey is to obtain input from a broad range of stakeholders to:
- determine the suitability of the proposed policy framework to guide newborn screening operations in Australia
- provide greater clarity on key issues identified by the Working Group
- identify any gaps within the proposed policy framework
- identify parts of the framework for which there are a range of views.
About the survey
If you agree to take part in this survey, you will be asked to indicate how important it is to include each of the following chapters, and their associated topic areas, in the policy framework:
- Chapter one: program overview
- Chapter two: program implementation
- Chapter three: safety and quality
- Chapter four: monitoring and evaluation
- Chapter six: decision making criteria
You do not have to answer all sections of the survey. If you cannot answer the whole survey, please complete the sections which are most important and relevant to you. The survey should take approximately 15-20 mins. This time will vary depending on whether all aspects of the survey are completed. You can also save the survey and return at a later time.
Privacy
Anonymous survey results will be stored securely until the completion of the project. You can withdraw at any time during the survey, up until the time that the “submit”’ button is selected at the end of the survey. You do not have to answer all sections of the survey to submit a response.
How your feedback will be used
Feedback received from this survey will be collated, analysed and used by the Working Group to inform the drafting of a national policy framework for newborn bloodspot screening in Australia.
