Clinical Schools Conceptual Outline

Closed 19 Mar 2023

Opened 16 Feb 2023

Overview

In 2021, a metropolitan-wide Clinical Schools Model was proposed.  It aims to provide the best clinical learning experience for all medical students training through WA's university.

A Steering Group, including representation from university staff, students, hospital staff and relevant sector organisations has been meeting regularly to progress the concept.

Once finalised, the model will provide the guiding principles for developing and implementing a coordinated approach to medical placements in WA hospitals.

Why your views matter

We would like to hear from anyone who may be impacted by the proposed Clinical School model.  This includes university staff, students and hospital staff.

This is your opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed Model which will guide the way clinical placements are planned and provided for all final year medical students studying in WA universities.

A two-year pilot is planned for implementation from the start of the 2024.

Please see below under the heading 'related' for a downloadable version of the conceptual outline.

What happens next

The Clinical Schools Project Steering Committee will review all feedback received.  They will use it to finalise the Clinical Schools Model.
