Consultation on the draft Framework for bereavement after an expected death in WA

Closed 21 Aug 2023

Opened 31 Jul 2023

Overview

The draft Framework for bereavement support after an expected death in WA (the framework) has been developed by the End of Life Care (EOLC) Program within the WA Department of Health. The Framework is intended as a strategic guide for end-of-life and palliative care services developing local solutions to support bereaved families/carers after an expected death.

The framework is intended to increase awareness and understanding of the service considerations associated with the provision of bereavement support after an expected death, rather than be a clinical guideline for the management of grief and bereavement.

It recognises that bereavement support is applicable to all services offering end-of-life and palliative care to patients with life limiting illness in WA and that collaborative approaches provide the best outcomes.

Why your views matter

The End of Life Care (EOLC) Program is seeking feedback into the draft framework to ensure a meaningful resource tool is developed, informed by key stakeholders.

This is a broad consultation open to all, and we are particularly interested to hear from end-of-life and palliative care service providers who have a role in the provision of bereavement support after an expected death.

The information collected by this survey will inform and guide the finalisation of the framework and support its implementation across the State. Please circulate the survey through your networks as appropriate.
