Disability Health Core Capabilities Resource Consultation Forum

Closed 14 Oct 2015

Opened 4 Sep 2015

Overview

The Disability Health Network invites you to attend the Disability Health Core Capabilities Resource consultation forum.

Time and date: 10.00am to 2.00pm (registrations from 9.30am), Wednesday 21 October 2015

Venue: The Rise, 28 Eighth Ave, Maylands

The draft Disability Health Core Capabilities Resource: Shared attitudes and behaviours for healthcare workers (the Resource) outlines knowledge, skills and attributes required of a health workforce who provide healthcare services for people with disability.

The Resource is applicable to all healthcare workers and disability support workers who have interaction with individuals with disability, their family, carers and communities. It is also appropriate for use by education and training providers and services, other government departments and managers, planners and funders of services for individuals with disability.

Although many people were involved in drafting the Resource, we are committed to engaging with a wider range of stakeholders to progress the work further. We want to check with stakeholders to make sure we are on the right track. Your input will be used to finalise the Resource. This forum is being held as just one part of the consultation on the Resource. On the day, attendees will:

  • hear an overview of the Resource
  • work in small groups to share practical ideas on how the Resource can be implemented and what format or tools could help
  • provide feedback on the potential use and other general comments about the Resource.

Who can attend?

Anyone with an interest or involvement in improving the health of people with disability is invited to attend the forum to help shape this important document. We are especially keen to hear from:

  • people with disability, families and carers
  • health and disability service providers and professionals working with individuals with disability
  • education and training providers.
