WA Neurological Health Strategic Priorities – Online Consultation
Overview
The Western Australian (WA) Neurological Health Strategy development is currently underway. This inaugural strategy aims to provide strategic direction for WA to enhance care delivery for people affected by neurological conditions, focussing on treatment and support.
Neurological conditions affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves and/or muscles, and often have lifelong impacts on individuals, families, and communities. There are over 600 different neurological conditions with a variety of causes. Neurological conditions are a leading cause of disease burden in Australia (AIHW, 2025).
This Strategy is focussing on neurological conditions affecting both children and adults that are currently not addressed in other policy areas. Neurological conditions with existing strategies and initiatives such as dementia and stroke are not within our scope. This Strategy is intended to complement these efforts and strengthen alignment across policies.
Why your views matter
We are consulting as widely as possible to inform the development of the first WA Neurological Health Strategy. The feedback we receive will allow us to capture the current state and ideal future state of neurological health care in WA and determine the future priority areas and actions to fulfil this.
