In recognition of the passion and dedication of the Allied Health workforce in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, the Chief Allied Health Office - together with Platinum Sponsor Curtin University and our valued supporting sponsors - is proud to announce the WA Excellence in Allied Health Awards 2025.

There are eight award categories, plus the Lifetime Achievement Honour.  The categories are:

Aboriginal Allied Health Award

The Aboriginal Allied Health Award is for nominees who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated their commitment to improving and advocating for the culturally appropriate health care of Aboriginal peoples and communities.

Early Career Allied Health Professional of the Year

The Early Career Allied Health Professional of the Year applies to nominees who have shown exceptional potential during their first two years of practice.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated a passion and commitment to the provision of quality, safe and compassionate care to patients and their family/caregivers.

Allied Health Assistant of the Year

The Allied Health Assistant of the Year applies to nominees who have a dedicated Allied Health Assistant role, which may include providing clinical as well as administrative support.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated a commitment to elevating the human experience in health care through their commitment to the allied health service for their organisation.

Allied Health Team of the Year

The Allied Health Team of the Year applies to a team demonstrating an outstanding contribution as a collective team, and to clinical excellence by delivering high performing allied health services and patient and/or service outcomes across any healthcare setting.

The winner of this category will be recognised by their peers, demonstrate outstanding professionalism and actively support a positive and collaborative culture.

Allied Health Researcher of the Year

The Allied Health Researcher of the Year applies to nominees who hold a clinical or clinical leadership role and engages in research activities. Nominees may or may not have protected research time. It is open to novice, early career, and experienced researchers.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated the impact of their research in WA on service and/or patient outcomes and how they are supporting clinicians to implement research in clinical practice as well as build research capacity.

Allied Health Educator of the Year

The Allied Health Educator of the Year applies to nominees who deliver impactful contributions to improve the best practice allied health service delivery through learning and development for Allied Health professionals.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated a significant impact from their contribution to educating Allied Health professional peers, students, other health disciplines, patients, or the general public.

Allied Health Leader of the Year

The Allied Health Leader of the Year applies to nominees who show exceptional skills to support, mentor, and coach Allied Health professionals. They do not have to be working in a management or senior role.

The winner of this category will have driven quality improvement in patient care, service delivery and a commitment to value-based health care; and are leaders of a positive culture across professional groups.

Allied Health Professional of the Year

The Allied Health Professional of the Year applies to nominees who have made an outstanding contribution to clinical practice, leadership, clinical research and education,

The winner of this category will have demonstrated commitment to supporting, empowering, and upskilling those around them. They advocate for evidence-based practice, with a focus on value-based health care, and provide safe, quality, and compassionate patient care.

Lifetime Achievement Honour

The Lifetime Achievement Honour is by third party nomination only (i.e. not self nomination) and recognises the nominee's long standing and extraordinary contribution to the Allied Health professions.

The winner of this category is highly regarded by their team, service and/or profession and their work has had a momentous and long-standing impact on Allied Health in WA. 

Award Rules

The awards are open to Allied Health working in any health care environment and within any organisation in Western Australia.

  • rural and remote
