Department of Health Discipline Policy Review Consultation
Overview
The department Discipline Policy has undergone a scheduled review.
The department Discipline Policy specifies the principles and minimum requirements which the department applies to ensure a fair, reasonable and consistent approach to the management of matters that may concern a breach of discipline. This policy does not apply to Health Service Provider employees.
The proposed amendments aim to:
- ensure the principles and requirements in relation to the management of suspected breaches of discipline are clear, contemporary and consistent with applicable legislation and standards
- define specific roles and responsibilities for relevant parties in relation to suspected breaches of discipline and disciplinary processes, and
- ensure appropriate support and consideration is provided to all relevant parties, noting the potential impact disciplinary processes may have on those involved.
In addition to the revised Discipline Policy, a Discipline Process Flowchart which provides an overview of the disciplinary process has been developed as a related document to the Policy.
Your feedback will inform the final versions of the Discipline Policy and Discipline Process Flowchart.
