WA Disability Health Framework - Consultation Forum

Closed 18 May 2015

Opened 23 Mar 2015

The Disability Health Network invites you to attend the WA Disability Health Framework consultation forum.

Time and date: 10.00am to 2.00pm (registrations from 9.30am), Friday 22 May 2015

Venue: The RISE, 28 Eighth Avenue, Maylands

The draft WA Disability Health Framework 2015-2025: improving the health care of people with disability (the Framework) outlines priorities for all areas of the health system, the disability sector and the community to focus their efforts towards improving the health outcomes of people with disability.

The Framework is applicable to all public health service providers (permanent, temporary, casual, contract) working with people with disability, their family, carers and communities. It is also appropriate for use by other government departments, private, not-for-profit and non-government organisations working with people with disability, their family, carers and communities.

Although many people were involved in drafting the Framework, we are committed to engaging with a wider range of stakeholders to progress the work further. We want to check with stakeholders to make sure we are on the right track. Your input will be used to finalise the Framework. This forum is being held as just one part of the consultation on the Framework. On the day, attendees will:

  • hear an overview of the Framework
  • work in small groups to share practical ideas on how the Framework can be implemented
  • provide feedback on the potential use and value of the Framework.

Who can attend?

Anyone with an interest or involvement in improving the health of people with disability is invited to attend the forum to help shape this important Framework. We are especially keen to hear from:

  • people with disability, families and carers
  • health and disability service providers and professionals working in those areas
  • advocacy agencies
  • disability and health peak bodies
  • researchers and training bodies

Registrations are essential to attend this event. To register, click on the ‘Registration form’ link below.

Registrations close Tuesday 12 May 2015

A copy of the Framework is provided in the attachments section below as pre reading.
