Overview

WA Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) Health Strategy Community Consultations Online

The WA Department of Health is seeking feedback from LGBTI populations in WA to help inform the WA LGBTI Health Strategy (the Strategy). The Strategy will raise awareness of the physical health and mental wellbeing needs of LGBTI people across the lifespan, and will provide a framework supporting strategies to enhance equity in access and health outcomes.

LGBTI Populations

In this consultation, and within the Strategy, ‘LGBTI’ refers to people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex or otherwise diverse in their sexuality or gender. It is recognised that many people and populations have additional ways of describing their distinct histories, experiences and needs.

Why We Are Consulting

It is important that WA LGBTI populations, including parents and/or carers, have the opportunity to have their say about the health and wellbeing needs of LGBTI populations. We are very interested in your responses, advice and recommendations.

The purpose of this online consultation is to get a community perspective on the following topics:

  • What would high quality health services for WA LGBTI populations look like?
  • What is being done well in the health system for LGBTI populations?
  • What would you change in the health system to make it better for LGBTI populations?
  • Outside of the health system what could be done to support the physical health and mental wellbeing of LGBTI populations.

Your feedback will help us shape the Strategy.

A separate consultation is occurring with service providers to gain their perspectives on what is done well and what needs to improve for LGBTI populations.
